Greetings! My name is Tavorise K. Marks, and I am running for the Virginia House of Delegates, District 62 Seat, which encompasses parts of Chesterfield County, Prince George County (Jefferson Park -205) and the entire City of Hopewell. As a millennial progressive agent of social change and equality, I am Virginia born and bred. I love my state and adore my community. I was born in the City of Richmond and raised as an adolescent in Brunswick County, Virginia. I currently reside in Chesterfield County where I live to serve my community and honor my family.
I AM NOT A POLITICIAN. I am a public servant and there is a clear difference. I am very much just like you. I have worked hard for everything I have achieved in life, with nothing ever given to me. I am no stranger to hard work, as my very first job at the age of 15 was working in a tobacco warehouse unloading 300 lb. bales of tobacco and tagging it for sale to the big tobacco companies in rural Brunswick County, Virginia. I enjoyed earning my income and contributing to the economic success of my community at that time. This work ethic has followed me throughout life as I became the very first in my family to attend and graduate from college. Afterwards, going on to a successful career in the military, federal government and state government.
It is very important that I state that this campaign is not about me. It is about you. I am running for the opportunity to represent you in the General Assembly, simply because I am fed up with the “business and politics as usual” approach of state government. For far too long, our elected officials have not been held accountable for the negative repercussions of their votes (Democrats and Republicans alike), that sometimes severely affect the citizens of their communities. Your elected official should be a representation of the people and not the political elite. I will always be for the people. My mantra has always been and will always be, “One Team, One Fight, For the People!”.
