Professionally, I am a United States Army Reserves Military Intelligence Officer in Civil Affairs and a civil servant for the Commonwealth of Virginia. I am also a licensed insurance agent and the President and CEO of T K Marks and Associates LLC., my own small business. I’ve previously served as the Commonwealth’s first ever Resilience Program Manager for the Secretary of Public Safety and Homeland Security and the Virginia Department of Emergency Management concurrently, as well as, the Director of Security for St. Catherine’s School, a Criminal Analyst for the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), and a United States Army Military Police Officer. I have also had the honor and privilege to serve in the Commonwealth’s Guardian, the Virginia Army National Guard.
I am actively involved in my community with memberships and affiliations to include the Chesterfield County Branch NAACP (2nd Vice President and Legal Redress Chair), Chesterfield County Democratic Committee (3rd Vice Chair) Norfolk State University Alumni Association – Central Virginia Chapter (Treasurer), Chesterfield County Young Democrats, Liberal Women of Chesterfield County and Beyond (LWCC), Elizabeth Scott Elementary PTA, Elizabeth Scott Elementary Watch D.O.G.S Program, United States Coast Guard Auxiliary – Flotilla 31, Prince Hall F&AM Mason, Mount Gilead Full Gospel Ministries, and the Military Officers Association of America. I was also honored as the 2018 Citizen of the Year by Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc. Delta Omega Chapter for Central Virginia.
My family, state, district and community are all very important to me, as I have taken the oath time and time again to protect them all at home and abroad in the United States Armed Forces, even at the cost of my life. I am a servant and I live to serve. This is the passion I bring into any and everything I dedicate my time, efforts, energy, blood, sweat, and tears to. If given the honor to be your Delegate, I will protect your rights and interest in the General Assembly. I will represent and protect you with the very same passion and dedication I have provided to our country and the Commonwealth for over a decade and counting.
I believe that all schools should be treated and funded equally with teachers and bus drivers pay increased. I will fight to bring public transportation and better roadways to the district in order to increase opportunities for employment and tourism. I will fight tooth and nail to protect Medicaid expansion and for equal rights, human rights, women’s rights, and to raise the minimum wage. I will work to protect my fellow veterans and end homelessness among our vets. I will work tirelessly to improve re-entry for returning citizens and decrease recidivism while demanding criminal justice reform. I will listen to those who have been ignored, bring forth legislation to treat citizens fighting addiction, and provide options for treatment and not confinement, as well as improving mental health services. I will work to bring better jobs with increased benefits for employees to include affordable healthcare. I will work for equal opportunities for all Virginians. I will work for and answer only to, YOU the people. I will accomplish these goals for you because I am you, and together we can and will bring forth a new generation of democratic leadership. I thank you for supporting our campaign.
