Marks to Challenge Ingram for the House of Delegates District 62 Seat
Chester – Tavorise K. Marks is immensely grateful and humbled to announce his candidacy for the Virginia House of Delegates District 62 Seat, which encompasses parts of Chesterfield and Henrico County, Prince George and the City of Hopewell. He will be seeking the Democratic Party nomination.
The incumbent, Riley Ingram (R), has held the seat for over 25 years.
Marks’, a Chester resident, is an Army Military Intelligence Officer in the Virginia Army National Guard and employed as a Captain with the Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services Police Department at Central State Hospital. Marks’ holds a Master’s Degree in Urban Affairs / Urban Planning and is an Alumnus of Norfolk State University, Harvard University Kennedy School of Government, and The University of Virginia.
“I have spent the last 10 years of my professional career in Emergency Management and Public Safety protecting the lives, property, and safety of the citizens of the Commonwealth and our nation.” Marks said. “It’s one thing the Army has taught me and that is the duty to fulfill your obligations and to accept conditions as they exist, or accept the responsibility for changing them.”
Since making the decision to run, Marks has begun to knock on doors and shake hands while circulating his petition to appear on the ballot. He has been eager to listen to the concerns of the public while seeking input on changes they want in the community. Marks’ has pledged to protect women’s rights, criminal justice reform, fight for equal funding for schools, higher pay for teachers, improve infrastructure and transportation, as well as raising the minimum wage to $10.
